Benefits of Quiz

Last evening had a privilege of attending Brain Ninja organised by Rotary Club of Rotary Vapi RiverSide (rvr). It was a wonderful experience, after a long long period. After certain age, we start observing things differently, I had never thought of benefits of Quiz, in such a manner, how Quiz teaches us any lessons of life.

I think that it should be made as a part of curriculum of the students. It can be any part of life – Business, personal life, social life, lots of lessons can be learnt from Quiz.

In this article I would like to share with you, benefits of Quizzing.

  • Quizzing increases your observation power. As Rightly said by my friend Mr. Sajanand Nambiar. Once we attend quiz, our observation power increases like any thing. We tend to observe important things from trivial news or information also.
  • Knowledge is important, but your attitude is everything. How we look at things, whether we make right decisions at right time or not? whether we refrain or take risks at right time. We might know the answers, but if we don’t hit buzzer @ the right time, we loose.
  • Questions / problems are easier in the beginning. In initial rounds of life problems are small and as we grow it becomes difficult. Most of the times the decision to do or not to do, becomes more crucial.
  • Mistakes give negative marking. Life also comes with negative marks, our mistakes can be costly, sometimes very costly. We need to understand and decide whether to go for the opportunity or refrain from it.
  • Taking Risks gives you awards. So is the case with life also. Taking Risks is essential for success. That shows the attitude to win. and confidence on your knowledge / skills.
  • Many time answers are simple. Most of the times, answers are inside the questions, but we often make things complicated by thinking wrongly (or over thinking). Life also gives solutions along with problems, but we only look at the problems. If we look closely we may find solutions in those very problems.
  • Twisted questions. Situations might be tricky, but most of the times solutions are simple. Only we need to analyse things in more detail.
  • Listen to the questions first. Answering before listening to question was one the biggest mistake done by contestants. In life also, analysing the problem is must.
  • At the end How you play is important. As in life also, its is not important what is the end result. If you have played sensibly with full confidence, the feeling is satisfying.

At the end, I would love to make my self a very active participant in organising the quiz every year. It was a very learning experience for me.

Thank RVR for this opportunity.
